8-weeks post surgery and Dull Pain keeps me awake at night.
Adding Lorazepam before I go to sleep, to shut my mind off. Giving that a try.
I'm miserable; my "inners" are sore!
Naps would be welcomed, but no luck.
(I don't smoke weed, so medical marijuana was not suggested. I am not against it, I just don't want a throat issue on top of this issue.)
With my doctor heading off island "for a 3-wk vacation" I had to handle this sleeping issue, today, with her. I was in tears with her handing me a kleenex. She asked, "What's wrong?"
"I can't sleep! Two-months of no sleep!"
She described it as post surgery syndrome... (something)
And hand wrote a prescription for me to hand deliver to the pharmacy in her office. (Come to find out, anything habit forming has to be hand delivered. Hmmmn.) My first job was working in a pharmacy "when everything was handwritten".
I had my list in hand for our 8-wk visit and we addressed all my issues. A few tweaks in meds and we shall see if I'm understood.
Her easy solution was a pill before bed of 1mg. Lorazepam
I took my first pill at bedtime and I did not wake during the night, or toss about in discomfort. And, I did not wake in dull pain. As I usually wake and want my Motrin, I'm so sore. I knew a good nights sleep would help.
As long as I can get my sleep, I can begin my life again. I just may have hit a turning point today. I hope so. She said, "Start walking, go out for ice cream, to a movie"... I can't picture sitting in a movie theatre for 2 plus hours. Ouch! I have pelvic PAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!
But, I will try to do more. I will push myself more.
I still don't drive. "I walk in Baby Steps!" Twisting in a car is not my idea of pain free, that would add more pain.
I'd have to ween off the Ibuprophen, first. (Can't drive all loopy.)
I will attempt driving at 10-weeks.
I can't push a grocery cart or lift grocery bags into my house.
I can't lift my trash container at my condo.... so my editor comes over to help with all these things. Thank God for him.
The pill for sleeping does not bother my stomach, yeah! And it's a solid 7, 8 hours.
I am not one to take pills at all, but 2 months of discomfort is ENOUGH! BRING IT ON!
The new pill Linzess, I take when I wake. This has rid that dull pain on the left side that I feel all night. Love it! (it moves the bowels.)
Ibuprofen causes constipation, so this is needed.
GET THIS: I'm watching Johnny Depp on Jimmy Kimmel and when that "odd segment" ended (Odd because Depp kissed Kimmel on the mouth when he entered!) Kimmel stands to say, "The debut of the Bachelorette on Monday night...AS WE CONTINUE OUR SACRED MISSION TO SPREAD HPV THROUGHOUT THE LAND!"
He was talking about all the kissing....
And, HPV is a HUGE TOPIC!
WELL... Kimmel was correct. it's an epidemic now.
So, for me and my house, which is just me. I am scheduled to see a throat specialist to rule out anything related to HPV. (I call it, "checking the dating gems" even tho I don't date now.)
HPV is passed skin to skin. So, until everyone is vaccinated we play a kissing game of Russian Roulette for throat cancer.
We may see some changes in Hollywood's love scenes.
Famous stars have spoken up: Michael Douglas spoke about his HPV throat cancer and blamed oral sex. Pam Anderson blamed her hubby, Tommy. Alex Joel who is Billy Joel and Christy Brinkley's daughter blamed her ex-boyfriend. (Most of us know "when we got diagnosed" where it came from.) A young actress Jade Goody died of cervical cancer from an HPV at age 27. Her cells reached the brain. (Her entire life story is sad.)
Latest Facts: Any girl sexual active will get an HPV diagnosis by age 24. Living a healthy lifestyle, most will clear it. (20% will develop lesions of cells changes and Leep will be used for treatment.) But 50% of those lesions are testing cervical cancer. Immediate treatment is needed at that point to stop the spreading cells.
You can google the movie star list. They are speaking out to help, just like me. We are encouraged to share out stories!
I even added my personal story to my Oahu novel. The main character "Harlow" takes on a career as a cytotechnologist. (They find cancer cells in tests.) Her grandmother gets cervical cancer. A character that runs for 5 novels. As they say, a book writes itself. And that character "Malea" is me! She plays a small part in the Oahu novel, but as I write autobiographically my life crept in. Writing the Oahu novel during my surgery "treatment" helped keep my mind off of what was happening to me.
