See how we decorate on an island using only "recyclable" materials. This is a yearly tradition, to view the private collection of "Auntie Josie" of Kapaa; we also thank Elizabeth Freeman for buying the handmade art and donating it to the County Building, on Rice Street, for preservation. Josie had the "holiday house" to visit, for 20yrs. We lost her in 2009, to the Lord our Savior, but her creativity lives on.
"Everything she made was from simple household items, so you have to browse slowly to imagine its original form.
What did I ask Santa and Mrs. Clause for this year? Good health! Just like I asked last year, and the year before that.
They pointed out people that night who had the same wish in the past, and it was granted. And I heard their journey stories. I left there feeling positive, so glad I made it.
In my case, I keep clipping another domino: I fall, and fall, and fall... I am not yet on the climb to recovery. Still in the storm of it!!!
Came in with my cane, not wheel chair, crowd too packed, half the island comes C'mas Eve. I moved slow, taking pictures and taking it all in. Glad I got out of bed for this. I kept watching the clock, telling myself to get there before they close up. I made it an hour before closing! So, so glad I did. I really enjoy coming to this each year.
